Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian musician, singer and songwriter from Canada. There are many styles of her earlier music has been called "lo fi R&B" and "futuristic dance-pop". The artist has added elements of hip hop electronic, rock and hip hop. Her songs often incorporate science-fiction and feminist themes throughout her songs. There have been five albums. Grimes was raised in Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. She began her independently-based music career in the mid decade. In 2010, she released two albums through Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. The following year, she joined 4AD and became a household name when she released her third album, Visions, in 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" as well as "Oblivion" that earned them the Juno Award in Canada for Electronic Album of the year. After this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in the year 2015 and garnered critical praise as several publications named it the best album of 2015. [6] Her fifth album, Miss Anthropocene, was out in 2020. Beyond music, Grimes had a voice part in the action role-playing video game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game program Alter Ego.
